I have lived in Scotland all my life and am married with three grown up children. I retired from a career in engineering in 2016 and joined Queen's Park Camera Club to improve my photography with people who have a similar interest. Since joining I have held several committee roles including the Presidency.
I believe it is important to 'give something back' and currently convene an instruction group for new members who wish to gain a deeper insight into the craft. Although I enjoy a variety of genres my favourite is nature and wildlife and this has brought success in terms of various awards. It is extremely satisfying to capture moments that are not always visible at passing glance.
In 2022 I was invited to join the Scottish Photographic Circle and this year I won the award for the best print in the annual exhibition.
I compete at local, national and international level, recently winning a sponsor's award for a wildlife macro image at the Scottish Photographic Federation (SPF) Print Championship 2026.
I have attained a Masters Award of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (MPAGB) and I am an Associate of the Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers (ASINWP). I have also attained AFIAP (Artiste FIAP) of the International Federation of Photographic Art and I am level 3 within the British Photography Exhibitions circuit (BPE3).
I see photography as a way of discovering and presenting images for people to enjoy. I always try to have fun with my photography and owe a debt of gratitude to several people who have advised and mentored me along the way.
