Edited by Rosamund Kidman CoxWe are once again at the time of year to review the annual publication of "Wildlife Photographer of the Year Portfolio", the latest being number 23.

The book is a compilation of images of the overall winners and runners up of each category, along with a large number of the commended images - all chosen from an entry in excess of 25,000 images, which makes this competition the largest natural history and wildlife competition in the world.

This year the images are as amazing as ever; I really do not envy the judges!

This year we have seen the success of some new names and the return of some familiar ones.

When I first started to review the book there where a few which were immediately recognisable, for example one by Richard Packwood with the winner of "Nature in Black and White" with an image entitled "The Greeting", so simple, but with so much impact.

Another immediately attracted me because the photographer has included the habitat as a main feature of an Amur or Siberian tiger, with the tiger being only a small part of the image.

This book should be once again given shelf space amongst your book collection. It is most certainly value for money.
